🎺 Sterling “Wall of Sound” Band Makes History with Back-to-Back UIL 1st Division Ratings!

History has been made once again at Ross Shaw Sterling Aviation High School! The Sterling “Wall of Sound” Band has earned a 1st Division Rating at the UIL Marching Band Competition in the Varsity Division — marking the second consecutive year that Sterling has achieved this outstanding honor.

Under the leadership of Band Director Kanavis Egland and Assistant Band Director Ryan Farr, the Wall of Sound has continued to rise to new heights, setting a new standard for excellence within the Houston Independent School District and the surrounding region. The band’s powerful musicianship, precision marching, and undeniable school pride resonated throughout the stadium as they performed with passion and discipline.

The Sterling Wall of Sound continues to embody the school’s spirit of aviation, excellence, and leadership, proving that with vision and unity, the sky is truly the limit. As the echoes of their performance fade, one thing remains clear — Sterling’s band is soaring higher than ever before. The band will continue to the Area Marching competition in Tyler, TX on October 1st.
